Scott Andrew (MFA ’13) presented a multimedia audio/visual concert as the fourth event of “Beyond: Microtonal Music Festival,” hosted by Music on the Edge at Bellefield Hall on the University of Pittsburgh campus on February 22. Andrew also designed media featured at the Pittsburgh Opera’s 2025 Fashion Show on February 24.

Harrison Apple (BHA ’13), Jules Malice (BHA ‘12), and Mary Tremonte (BHA ’00) are exhibiting in “When the Lights Come On: Queer Nightlife as Emergent Space” at Pittsburgh’s Brew House Arts through March 22.

Mel Bochner (BFA ’62), a pioneering figure in conceptual art, passed away on February 12, 2025, at age 84.

Current senior Sophie Chao (BFA ’25), along with alums Sarah Kim (BFA ’19), Brandon Ngai (BFA ’19), and Megan Hsu (BS) are featured in “Pit Party,” a four-person exhibition curated by Nana Cheon at alt projects in Arcadia, CA. The public reception is March 8, and the works remain on view through April 5.

Adriana Garcia (BFA ’99) illustrated “For a Girl Becoming” by Joy Harjo, the 23rd U.S. Poet Laureate, which will be reissued by Norton.

Katie Grinnan (BFA ‘92) and Lauren Faigeles (BFA ’13) are participating in “Fridge, LA!” — a community exhibition featuring over 100 artists at Pio Pico in Los Angeles.

Inbar Hagai (MFA ’24) is showing work in the NARS residency group exhibition, “Shifting /\ Gazes,” curated by Joyous R. Pierce, presenting a new iteration of the sonic kinetic sculpture, the DIY shake table. The opening reception is February 28, 6-8 pm, and the exhibition runs through March 18.

Ella Hepner (BHA ’18) presents “Touching Spells” at Established Gallery, her first solo exhibition in NYC, opening March 7.

Iz Horgan (BFA ’21) has two paintings in “The Hot Toddy,” a group exhibition by East Manning Projects and The Lemonade Stand in Providence, RI.

Shohei Katayama (MFA ’19) curated “Machina Ex Natura” at Kentucky College of Art + Design, featuring work by Professor and alum Isla Hansen (MFA ’15) and Erin Mallea (MFA ’19). The public reception is February 27, 5-7pm.

Nahyun Kim (BFA ’12) is in “The River Never Runs Dry,” an all-female group exhibition at Glass Rice in San Francisco opening March 1, exploring how artists across the Asian diaspora connect to self and belonging.

Erin Mallea (MFA ’19) has her video Obscuring Power (2023) and installation Permissible Dose (2023) on view at Kentucky College of Art & Design through March 31. Obscuring Power follows Pittsburgh residents trained in EPA Method 9 to monitor industrial emissions.

Todd Pavlisko (MFA ’02) has a drawing, Chandelier, in “Strike Fast, Dance Lightly: Artists on Boxing,” curated by Arden Sherman at the Norton Museum of Art in West Palm Beach, FL, through March 9.

Alexandra Rubinstein (BFA ’10) has a new piece in “Echo Chamber,” opening at The Hole on February 27.

Shori Sims (BFA ’22) and Erin Mallea (MFA ’19) are in “every speck of dust illuminated,” an exhibition inspired by Richard Siken’s poem “Visible World,” juried by Patrick Bova and Lucas Regazzi of april april, in partnership with the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh.

Barbara Strasen (BFA ’63) exhibited at the Palm Springs Modernism fair with gallerist and alum George Billis (BFA ’88).

Laura Sharp Wilson (BFA ’87) has a solo exhibition, “Anticipation is Making Me Wait,” at McKenzie Fine Art in NYC through March 30.
